Insurer Selected to Provide Church and Auto/Home Coverage to NBCA Members, Family, Friends and Associates
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – (February, 24, 2009) – The National Baptist Convention of America (NBCA) today announced at its Winter Board Meeting of members in Albuquerque that it has endorsed GuideOne Insurance of West Des Moines as its preferred property/casualty insurance provider for its churches and their members, family, friends and associates.
NBCA is a denomination of 6,700 churches, schools, and other institutions, approximating 1.5 million African-American Baptists, focusing on education, missions at home and abroad, and the publication and circulation of religious literature. GuideOne insures more than 43,000 churches and 136,000 home and auto customers throughout the United States.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this insurance program to our pastors and members to make the chore of purchasing insurance a little easier,” said Rev. Stephen J. Thurston, President of the NBCA. “Plus, our members can feel confident in GuideOne and its competitive insurance rates, comprehensive church coverages, and fast, fair claims handling.”
The NBCA has never had an endorsed Property and Casualty insurance program before and went through a comprehensive vetting process in selecting GuideOne.
“Having an insurance program is part of our strategy to strengthen and facilitate the positive growth of our member institutions while minimizing the potentially catastrophic effects of unforeseeable and often unavoidable losses,” Rev. Thurston added.
“We look forward to serving NBCA churches and their members,” said Jim Wallace, GuideOne President and CEO. “With our long history of serving churches, we feel we know how to protect churches and their members better than any other insurer.”
In addition to insuring church facilities in all 50 states, GuideOne provides home insurance in 18 states along with a first-of-its kind FaithGuard® Auto product, which provides special features and coverages for people of faith. The NBCA/GuideOne insurance program will launch in March in Illinois, Texas and Florida, with other states to follow later this year.
